Made by a Mom was founded in July of 2006 so that I could to share the benefits of this wonderful product with other moms. I first had my idea in May of 2003 when William, my first son, was about 6 months old and just learning to sit up by himself.  He would topple over and hit his head on our hardwood floors.  I would surround him with pillows so the fall was not as hard.    Then one day The Tuffet™ was born. This was the perfect solution to our problem. I would sit William in the center of The Tuffet™ and flatten out the center so that the sides had all of the stuffing which was made a soft foam beads.  William also used The Tuffet™ to watch television and to rest. The Tuffet™ has two convenient handles on each side so it can fold up to go to Grandma’s house, my children also use the handles to drag it around to wherever they want to sit and play. I also added two pockets so you can store things like diapers and wipes for your new born you can change them on The Tuffet™ when your are down on the floor playing with them. The pockets can also be used for rattles or a favorite toy.  The Tuffet™ has become an essential childcare product for our family.

With the birth of our second son Andrew I discovered it is also perfect for newborn infants.  You can lay your baby in the center with it flattened out so that the side are puffed up, preventing your baby from rolling off.  It is also perfect for tummy time because it gives your baby a safe clean place to rest and play.  I have found as my children get older it can still be used to sit and watch television or read a book. There is also a 24” bean pack that is available to purchase once your infant becomes a toddler.  It can be propped up against a couch or sturdy chair and it becomes the perfect Tuffet™ chair for my two and four year old.  When my husband gets home from work he is the first one to lie on The Tuffet™ and relax, and the kids quickly follow him, we had to get one for each member of the family.

When I designed The Tuffet™ I wanted it to be something that did not stand out in our small house so I made it to match the furniture, but I have since made different covers for different occasions.

In September of 2006 I found out that I was expecting my third child in May of 2007 but I did not let that stop me from making my dream become a reality.  I originally planned on launching this product at the JPMA show in April 2007 when my doctor told me that it was against medical advise because it was so close to my due date, so I changed my launch to the ABC Kids show in September 2007 and I plan on bringing my 4 month old son Matthew with me to help show the benefits of this great product. Yes, you read correctly I am blessed with 3 boys, what more could a mother ask for.
